Seasons and years blow through the high Alpine peaks of the decades-spanning “The Eight Mountains.” But a warm, abiding glow persists throughout this tender, even restorative epic of male friendship. The film, by Belgian filmmakers Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix van Groeningen, is a stunning, often profound and frequently jaw-droppingly gorgeous tale of two friends from childhood through adulthood set against the Italian Alps. Vast and intimate at once, their luminously languid adaptation of Paolo Cognetti’s bestseller reaches sublime heights. “The Eight Mountains,” which last year won the jury prize at the Cannes Film Festival, isn’t hurried. The ebbs of its two-and-a-half hours are sometimes a little too placid. But the passage of time — what changes, what endures — is much the subject of the movie. Just as the film’s near-sole setting — a remote mountain cabin beneath the peaks of northwestern Italy — beckons Pietro (Luca Marinelli) and Bruno (Alessandr...Mobileye: Q1 Earnings Snapshot

France will support Spain’s request for EU emergency funds to help farmers hit by extreme drought, Agriculture Minister Marc Fesneau said Thursday. Paris will show “solidarity in the European institutions so that Spain can access elements of budgetary response to the crisis it is experiencing,” Fesneau told a joint press conference after meeting with his Spanish counterpart, Luis Planas, in Paris.More than a quarter of Europe is currently in drought, with many countries bracing for a repeat — or worse — of last year’s bone-dry summer. Spain is particularly hard hit, with farmers’ association COAG forecasting that cereal crops will fail entirely in four regions this year.Planas on Monday sent a letter to Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski requesting aid for farm workers in Spain’s agricultural heartlands, including from the crisis reserve of the bloc’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and unused rural development funds.Across Eu...Brian Walshe to appear back in court, accused of murdering his wife Ana Walshe. He competes to win. That’s a different language,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said after his team polished off the Bucks with an overtime victory and gentleman’s sweep. “He’s desperate and urgent and maniacal and sometimes psychotic about the will to try to win.“He’ll make everybody in the building feel it.
